You can download GoogleMaps and there is also something called amaze GPS, but I don't know anything about it.

this is from the behold forums, but it works the exact same way for the memoir

You have to load most of these with TkFileExplorer.  Maybe a moderator should cut -and-paste the installation guide from the Behold forum(s) that covers this and make a sticky with it.

MGMaps is a good application (it has Yahoo and MS Live maps in it), and can be installed directly from their website (wap.mgmaps.com on you Memoir browser).  Be sure to select a signed version of 1.39, as other versions had lost yahoo connectivity (althought that might be fixed).

I have installed Amaze, and it is the only free one that gives turn-by-turn, but it often has connectivity problems, and i am "amazed" when it work OK.  This one has to installed the "hard" way though (TK not hard at all as soon as you get used to it).

The Google map version out there for these devices does not access the GPS, but it gives a rough "my location" from the cell signals.

The nice thing you have going with the memoir vs the behold is that the GPS works much better as to reception.

Which version do you have, as the one being installed by many does not have GPS use?

google maps uses cellular triangulation or something like that. so your location will be off a little bit.

mgmaps and amazegps never really worked for me. it always said i was in germany for some reason.

i can post the full screen google maps if anyone wants me too. it actually works.

That sounds like your GPS has not found your location.  When you are in MGmaps/Yahoo, if you select "My Location", it will tell you if it cannot find the satellites.

Leave it on for a while in a location that should have good reception.

I have the Google maps also, but it only locates you between 1500-3100 meters - depending on signal strength.
