Hi All,
Just found out the I can tag pictures with GPS but I don't know how to do that?  I turned my GPS on in Camera mode and......  that's as far as I got.  Hoping someone who has used tagging can tell me what I need to do after I take pic and how I know that I have the GPS connected and am using geo tagging.  I see the icon flashing (little satelite blinking)
Thanks Vivid

Okay, I figured it out.
First make sure GPS is on in Camera.  2.  While taking picture there is a icon of satellite on left hand side of frame, it should be blinking.  3.  Make sure satellite is not blinking and is solid to get GPS location.  Once blink is solid you have connected to satellite for signal.
4.  To check your photo for GPS longitude and latitude, go to picture details on phone and click on info icons and page with; name, model, date and GPS version there will be also Lat/Long info.  On computer it will be in picture properties.
5.  IBM program to use is Google Earth, it's very accurate.  You have to download the Google Earth program.  Quite amazing.  You can also try Flickr.  I’m sure there maybe other programs that tag photo’s but I really like Google Earth.

Hi DJ,
That means you haven't locked into a signal.  Make sure the icon is solid, not blinking.  Yes, I downloaded the program for google earth.  As for other programs, look around.  First try and take a pic in a open area where your sure to lock on a signal.

Hi,

I made sure I locked into a signal but still couldn't get it to work.  I only get name, model and date only.  I don't have a data plan for my memoir or any apps like google earth installed.  Could this be the reason I can't get it to work?

Has anyone else like me (no data plan or google earth) out there encountered any issues getting this to work?

Hey DJ,
I don't have a data plan and Google Earth has to be installed on your computer.  When you take pictures you have to download to computer to load it onto google earth.  I do have an account with TelNav GPS, not sure if that has anything to do with it?  If your getting a locked signal when taking pics it should have coordinates .  Try uploading it to computer and checking properties that way.

Finally got it to work.  Only outside in the open though.  I guess you can't lock into a signal when you are indoors.  Can you/ anyone else confirm this?

No, it is locking onto a satellite which needs to connect to your receiver.  It's not like a cell tower.  Geo Tagging is for locations, such as a park, a street, etc.  Similar to why GPS systems like a TomTom need to be mounted on windows of your car.  You can do a google search on how GPS satellites work.

Thanks Vivid.  I guess you learn something new everyday.  All this time I thought GPS signal were able to penetrate throgh walls, ceilings etc.  I guess we're not there yet..........
